Perspectives User Guide

Two ways to create notes

Recording

  • For longer notes and assessments, you can record the encounter and use it to fill in the form, note, or assessment directly in the EMR.
  • Ask the patient for consent before recording. See the Consent guide.

Dictating

  • You can also dictate what happened in a session into Perspectives.
  • Speak naturally, as if you were summarizing the encounter to a colleague.
  • Include the important clinical details, such as interventions, patient response, progress, relevant risks or barriers, and the plan—basically any detail you want to appear in the note.
  • Perspectives will turn your dictation into a structured note in the EMR.

Troubleshooting

What happens if my computer dies or goes to sleep during a session?

Perspectives will save sessions when something fails, like if your computer dies or if you lose internet in the middle of a session. These are incomplete sessions.

Sessions you exit before adding a patient or note type are unconfigured sessions.

Both appear under Pending sessions on the Perspectives home page. Select Recover to return to one.

After you select Recover

If you recover an incomplete session, Perspectives will show you options for resolving the interrupted recording:

  • Complete wraps up the recording so you can finish the session.
  • Continue resumes recording. Choose this when the session was interrupted and you still need to record more.
